Brian T. Kelly is a dedicated Florida-based adoption attorney, passionately guiding birth mothers through the adoption process. As the managing partner of the firm’s Daytona Beach office, Brian provides personalized one-on-one service, ensuring each client receives the care and support they deserve.

A native of Jacksonville, Brian pursued his undergraduate education at the University of North Florida, where he excelled academically and shared his passion for education by teaching American history during the regular school year and algebra during summer sessions. After deciding it was time for a career change, he attended law school at the University of Florida Levin College of Law.
In the early stages of his legal career, Brian worked as a prosecutor for eight years during the 1980s. It was during this time that he met his partner, Michael. Fueled by their shared vision and determination, the two went on to establish their own practice, Shorstein & Kelly, in 1992.
Brian’s day-to-day responsibilities vary, from conducting initial meetings with birth mothers to guiding them through the adoption process with care and compassion. He enjoys handling the firm’s administration tasks, a passion and skill set that he attributes to his background in teaching.
One of the most fulfilling aspects of Brian’s job is witnessing the joy and gratitude of families as they welcome a new addition through adoption. He cherishes the notes, cards, and pictures he receives from families, serving as everlasting reminders of the positive impact his work has had on countless lives over the years.
Along with Michael, Brian was among the first in Florida to achieve board certification in adoption law. The partners are also fellows of the American Academy of Adoption Attorneys and active members of the Florida Adoption Council.
One of his most notable accomplishments is receiving the National Angels in Adoption Award, nominated by Congressman John Rutherford.
Through his unwavering dedication and compassionate approach, Brian continues to make a profound difference in the lives of families throughout Florida and beyond. Outside of his legal practice, Brian enjoys spending time with his family and pursuing his hobbies of golf and music.
As a talented guitarist and vocalist, Brian can often be found performing at local venues, including the North Beach Art Walk at Atlantic Beach. Committed to his faith, Brian is actively involved at Chets Creek Church of Jacksonville, FL.
